Here's my master degree main project at e-artsup, completed in early 2023. After going through a thesis about the french overseas territories cultures, I had the opportunity to develop the concept and a pilot for a documentary web & tv show named "Première Découverte" (First Discover).
The show is a concept thought to be produced and broadcast by the French public media France TV, known for their implication about the french cultures and the educational content about all of the country territories.

Tembé : "Guyane Française" (Tembe, French Guyana).
My goal with this pilot was to share with the world the beauty and the history of the cultures and the arts of the people we don't talk about a lot. Here in France, Overseas territory are well known for their precarity and violence, du to the political and social gap between them and the mainland. Being the son of a mother from Guadeloup and a father from French Guyana, i knew from the beginning that those territories were beautiful places, full of intresting people and inspiring cultures, talented craftmen and incradible food and music, completetd by fascinating landscape and nature.
And for this first pilot, i choose to tell the story of one of my favorit form of art and language from my father motherland ; The Tembé.
A beautiful mix of language and aesthetic, tinted by the Slavery and the history of the ones that struggled to get away of it.

The first step was to obtain references and high res photo or scan of some of the most classic artefacts of this craftmanship, the ones that were the first to exist and the ones that develop the future of Tembe. And to dive into this history, i had to understand the surounding elemnts of this culture, from the tropical rain forest of amazonia, to the local architecture and the main materials used by the craftmen.
Then, it was necessary for me to show the most accurate artefacts in thi spilot, so to use the reel scan and photo as shaders by creating all different maps and to clean those to obtain the most realistic objects. Here are some exemple of the shaders created for the artefacts.

To show the possibility of this documentary show and to demonstrate the wide range of subjects contained in this theme, i created a modular branding, with one logo variation per territoty.
Each point corresponds to an oversea territory. The main logo displays all the points lit, but each episode is shown with a logo presenting only the point corresponding to the territory presented lit. This creates a slightly modular identity but above all a playful logo.

With that, I created a collection of advertising poster and decorative ones to, each with the logo that corresponds to the visual and teh territory.
